Magic Monday- Room Upgrade
A few weeks ago, I had a guest visiting Disney and staying in the All-Star Sports hotel in a Standard View Room. She was traveling with 2 children and 1 infant, what a handful! I mentioned to her that when she arrived to check-in, to just ask if they had any Preferred Rooms available for a room upgrade. That way, she could cut out some of the walking between her building & the Disney transportation.
Well, not only did Disney upgrade her to a Preferred Room, but they delivered a card, balloon & plush Mickey to each of the children! The guest called me on the verge of tears! It's little things like this that really sum up the "Disney Difference". It's as if the Disney staff knew that the room upgrade & gifts would be some extra special pixie dust for not only the mother, but the kids too!
Make sure you ask (nicely) if there are any room upgrades available when YOU visit Disney- you never know what the answer will be!

Magic Monday- Arriving at Magic Kingdom
We're going to start posting every Monday something "magical" about Disney! It is, of course, why we love Disney the way that we do! We live for those moments that have just a little pixie dust sprinkled on them, etc. This may be a photo, moment, discount or whatever the case may be, but it will most definitely be full of magic! Today's magical moment comes to us in 2 photos that were taken from atop the train station for the Walt Disney Railroad in Magic Kingdom and right at the Main Street entrance. This particular day, Pluto & Daisy were stationed at the center court of Main Street, signing autographs and greeting guests. When the time came to take a quick break, it was such a joy to watch the characters interact with the guests as they entered the park! As you all know (and if you don't, we can help you fix that!), walking into the Magic Kingdom creates this sort of euphoric happiness inside of you that can't really be explained. Imagine the kids' faces entering the Magic Kingdom for the FIRST time and being greeted by Pluto! It was great and clearly, in these photos, the magic is written all over!

Rainy Days @ Disney World
So you're on vacation in Disney World and it's raining- oh no! Vacation is ruined...right? Wrong! There is plenty to do at Disney during those drizzling rainstorms! First rule of thumb is, head to an indoor attraction in whatever theme park you're in. Try and wait out the rain- most Florida "storms" only last about an hour or so at most. The theme parks will empty out, and you'll have shorter lines once it's over! In case the rain doesn't want to let up, try these things out during those rainy days @ Disney World:
- Head to DisneyQuest! This indoor arcade in Downtown Disney can entertain for hours and is a lot of fun!
- Take a tour of the Magic Kingdom resorts! All 3 hotels are on the monorail line and have plenty to see! You can eat at all three, take lots of pictures, do some shopping- and never get wet!
- Catch a movie at the AMC Theatre in Downtown Disney!
- Check for activities at your particular Disney resort- there are always lots of activities! The All-Star resorts have arcades and games inside the lobby for the kids!
- If nothing else, pick up some cheap rain ponchos at your local dollar store, and pack your rain boots! These will save your day!

Poolside Movie at Disney's All-Star Sports Resort
Happens all the time...you've spent the last 3 days in one of the 4 theme parks at Walt Disney World. You've ridden, screamed, ran and smiled your way thru the whole day...and let's face it, you need a break! There is no better place to relax than your Disney resort! Even the All-Star Resorts can be tranquil (but hey, anything looks tranquil next to the 3pm parade at the Magic Kingdom!).
Each value resort has cool things to do- arcade rooms, caracature artists, and plenty of photo-taking opportunities! But my favorite thing to do at the All-Star Resorts is to relax by the pool. Yes, it can be loud- it IS mainly a resort for children after all- but the activities they offer at the pools are a lot of fun, and don't require any walking or lines. Every afternoon and evening, they offer different games (family trivia, charades, etc.) for cool prizes. There is also a boogie-down dance activity in the evening! But the best part of the evening is the movie by the pool. Each day there is a different movie selection, and they bring in a huge screen and set it up right by the pool. You can sit on one of the lounge chairs, or even watch while you swim! But the kids love it, and you can relax too! You're even right next to the food court and bar! So the next time you feel like you're gonna have to pack up early and go home before you collapse from exhaustion- just hang out at your resort for a day!!

Walt Disney World Railroad Stations
One of my favorite feet-resters at the Magic Kingdom is the Walt Disney World Railroad! This attraction is not only a great rest for the whole family, but it's a great way to see Magic Kingdom! The Walt Disney World Railroad Stations are currently located in Main Street U.S.A. and Frontierland. There is another stop that was once known as Mickey's Toontown Fair, but that has closed due to the new Fantasyland Expansion, opening summer of 2012!
Once you hope on in either place, just sit back, relax and enjoy the sights and sounds of Magic Kingdom. You'll ride thru an Indian reservation, pass Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, the Contemporary Resort and the entrance to the Magic Kingdom! And the narration during the trip has lots of great facts and tidbits about Disney!
Next time you need a break, hop on the Walt Disney World Railroad!

Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe
Let's be honest, when it comes to dining in Disney World, the options are endless...and sometimes a bit daunting! So many choices, and so many different appetites to feed! One of my favorite places to satisfy all the hunger in MY family is Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe in Tomorrowland at the Magic Kingdom.
Not only is it a nice break from the hot Florida sun, but it is quite large, with seperate dining rooms to fit everyone in. In the main room, you even have an out-of-this-world DJ, Sonny Eclipse, who narrates your way thru the meal with music to groove to!
And the menu choices can feed even the pickiest eater! There's burgers, chicken sandwiches, wraps, roasted chicken, mashed potatoes, a vast kid's menu and more! And the food is delicious. They also have many options for any dietary need that comes their way!
For a fast, but fantastic meal, check out Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe the next time you're in Tomorrowland!

Wishes Fireworks Show in Disney
If you are an avid Disney-goer, or even if you are not, you have more than likely heard of the Wishes Fireworks Show in Disney! It has been one of the biggest and most-viewed attractions in Walt Disney World for several years now. The crowds never seem to dwindle!
I recently had the opportunity to see the Wishes Fireworks Show from a different angle! After having seen this particular show numerous times from the front (which I do definitely recommend for first-timers!), I decided to try catching the show from behind Cinderella's Castle, in Fantasyland. And boy, was I pleased! I stood in between the Golden Carousel and Dumbo the Flying Elephant ride. Fireworks were happening in front of me, and behind me! It is quite a site for the eyes, almost like you are in sensory overload! But the way the fireworks look when you are that much closer to them is absolutely breathtaking!
So sometime, if you're looking for a way to switch up your experience, try the the Wishes Fireworks Show in Disney from a different angle- it's worth it!

Nighttime in the Magic Kingdom
All of the great Magic Kingdom charm is still available at night- the character greetings, the food (turkey leg- yum!), the attractions and the shopping. And a lot of the time, the crowds and temperatures drop significantly! You can generally ride some of your favorites more than once and sometimes cut out half of the wait time, if not more!
So next time you're in Disney, enjoy your day! Then take the kids back to the hotel for a group nap, have some dinner and head back over! The magic will still be there!!

Grand Floridian Garden View Tea Room
Yes, you can find a quiet, more intimate step away from all of the hustle, and sometimes very loud bustle, of Disney. The Grand Floridian Garden View Tea Room offers one of the finest tea services in all of Florida. And aside from the prices being reasonable, you truly get transported to the high tea times of the Victorian era.
The seating is very limited, which really allows for the intimate setting of your tea time. The place settings and dishes are elegant and truly reminiscent of the traditional teas.
The menu offers a variety of options. You can choose from a full-service tea, some of these include a glass of champagne, or anything from the a la carte menu. All services come with your choice of tea (my favorite is the Strawberry Green Tea- yum!) and you get an entire pot all to yourself! They also bring you a Grand Floridian Garden View Team Room cover to keep your tea nice and warm until you are finished with it.
But the best part, for me at least, is the food! They have everything from tea sandwiches (yes, they have cucumber and watercress!), onion tarts, delicate petit fours and other sweet treats, fresh homemade scones with real clotted cream, and strawberries with fresh cream! The possibilities are endless and each bite is better than the next!
At the Grand Floridian Garden View Tea Room, they even have a special event for little princesses too! Whether you're celebrating a special occasion, or would just enjoy a relaxing afternoon, this is the place to be!

Whispering Canyon Cafe
The Whispering Canyon Cafe, a hidden gem of a restaurant, found in the lobby @ Disney's Wilderness Lodge, will most definitely be an experience for you and your family that you will not forget!
The menu offers a variety of delicious options, including pot roast, New York strip, meatloaf, and the popular "skillet", complete with ribs, chicken, mashed potatoes, corn-on-the-cob and more! But the best part of Whispering Canyon Cafe is the loud and rowdy atmosphere that the staff provides.
I like to think of the Whispering Canyon Cafe as the "get exactly what you asked for" kinda place. For example, you ask for a little more water, you get it in a salt shaker! You ask for ketchup, they bring you every bottle in the place! You ask for a Coke Zero, you get a glass with ice! The wait staff is crass, but in a playful way, and the kids just love it! There's also a parade that they do every half hour or so with music, giddy-up horses and more.

Get ready for a whole lot of hootin' and hollerin' at Whispering Canyon Cafe...the louder the better in this place! Enjoy!

Celebrate With a Button!
If you're like me or anyone in my family, you love to go to Disney to celebrate something! There's no place in the world that knows how to make someone celebrating something feel special! I've seen it all at Disney- a birthday serenade from the barbershop quartet on Main Street! A special dessert to celebrate an anniversary! A front-row seat to the Lights! Motor! Action! Extreme Stunt Show at Disney's Hollywood Studios! The list goes on and on!
But how do they know that you or someone in your travel group is celebrating? BUTTONS! Yes, buttons.
Disney has several different varieties of celebrating buttons available at all four theme parks, as well as the Disney Resorts! All you have to do is ask for one! They will happily provide you with a button. Most of the time, they will write your name on it for you! You will be shocked at the attention these celebrating buttons get! Currently available are the following occasions:
